🇬🇧 Born to an English mother and a French father, Claire Petit is a self-taught artist. Red runs through her work like a primordial breath — a blazing red that quickens the breath and awakens the fire of the blood. It reminds us that here, at every stage of existence, the heart beats to the rhythm of an invisible, intimate, and sacred force. On her canvases, beings born of dreams and the depths of the soul drift slowly, from beginning to death, endlessly surrendering to rebirth. Duality breathes fully within them; from one life to another, an ancestral feminine energy reigns — creative, fluid, introspective, and spiritual — multiple in its forms, wrapped in a contained, alchemical violence, transfigured into power.
From 1989 onward, Claire traveled between France and the United States, where she developed her artistic practice. Her first solo exhibition took place in 1999 in New York at the 24 Gallery. In 2004, her paintings were exhibited by the Grant Gallery in Soho. In 2005, she left for Mexico, where she set up a studio for three months in Oaxaca. From 2005 to 2010, her work was represented and exhibited by Opera Gallery in New York and later in Miami. During this fertile period, her practice was marked by frequent travel and regular production in the United States, particularly large-format works. Since 2010, her paintings have been exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Luxembourg, Metz and more. Her studio, located in Nancy, is open to visitors year-round by appointment.

Le rouge traverse ses œuvres comme un souffle primordial — un rouge ardent qui accélère la respiration et éveille le feu du sang. Il rappelle qu’ici, à chaque étape de l’existence, le cœur bat au rythme d’une force invisible, intime et sacrée. Sur ses toiles, des êtres venus du rêve et des profondeurs de l’âme dérivent lentement, du commencement à la mort, pour s’abandonner sans cesse à une renaissance. La dualité y respire pleinement, d’une vie à l’autre, une énergie féminine ancestrale règne — créatrice, mouvante, introspective et spirituelle — multiple dans ses formes, enveloppée d’une violence contenue, alchimique, transfigurée en puissance.
A partir de 1989 Claire voyage entre la France et les Etats-Unis, elle y développe son activité artistique, sa première exposition personnelle a lieu en 1999 à New York à la 24 Gallery. En 2004, ses toiles sont exposées par la Grant Gallery à Soho. En 2005, elle part pour le Mexique où elle installe un atelier pendant trois mois à Oaxaca. De 2005 à 2010, son œuvre est représentée et exposée par l’Opera Gallery à New York puis à Miami. Durant cette période féconde, elle mène une pratique marquée par de nombreux déplacements et une production régulière aux États-Unis, notamment pour ses grands formats. Son atelier, situé à Nancy, est ouvert aux visiteurs tout au long de l’année sur rendez-vous.
